Greetings Southern Region! I am Cameron Butler your 2010-2011 Southern Regional Chair. I am currently a junior at Grambling State University studying Hotel/ Restaurant Management. I am ready to get started with this school year and anticipating nothing short of greatness! I am Glad to say that we have a strong National Board with various unique ideas that are prepared to contribute their all into this organization. As the Southern Region we have a lot to live up to and falling short is not an option. In this school year we plan to reach higher levels and exceed what is expected! Some of my primary focus of interest is to re-establish chapters that are not active, increase membership in existing chapters, create an open line of communication from Board to Chapter level, and make better use of our fellow chapters as resources for success. Throughout my tenure as a member the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality, I have seen our organization's trends, experience, and creativity in the last three years. I have also noticed that in order for NSMH to benefit you the most, it is vital to get involved at chapter level and be a motivated leader and active member. Take advantage of the scholarships that are available and submit your resume so that it may better market you to employers. Every resource or help you need is an email away. Remember that we are in this together and my mission is to aid you in any way possible! I am ecstatic about our regional conference this year! We will be joining the Southeastern Region once again and I know that it will be another amazing experience. The 2010 South/Southeast Regional Conference will be held November 5th-7th at the Great Wolf Lodge in the beautiful city of Charlotte, NC! For Reservations call (866) 944-9653. The Hotel reservation deadline date is October 12th and the group reservation code is #1010NATI. My best advice, in preparation for Regional Conference, is to use this time to enhance your resume, network with other regional members, touch up on your interviewing skills, and begin networking with industry professionals. This will adequately prepare you for our 22nd Annual National Conference & Career in Atlanta, GA next February! Furthermore, I am excited about the great experiences that we will all enjoy together in the Months to come! I can't wait to meet every one of you amazing people. If there are any questions or comments feel free to email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Let’s show the other regions what “Southern Hospitality” is all about!
Sincerely, Cameron M. Butler
