Emily Thompson - NSMH

Emily Thompson
2017-2018 Southeast Regional Chair
Chapter: Northern Arizona University (NAU)

WEST COAST, BEST COAST!

Hello,

My name is Emily Thompson and I am thrilled and honored to serve as the 2017-2018 Western Regional Chair. I am a senior at Northern Arizona University (NAU), studying Hotel/Restaurant Management.

I joined NSMH my freshman year at NAU as a way to make friends. I was an out of state student, struggling to make friends and find my way around college. Immediately, I was welcomed in by the NSMH family and I have been able to take on the roles of Treasurer, Vice President, and President for my chapter. My personal and professional development has grown immensely due to this incredible organization.

My goal this year is to help all chapters in the Western Region accelerate to be the best they can be. I can’t wait to meet all the members of the best region, from our first year to our fourth year members. I am excited to continue growing the best region, connecting members, and expanding our professional networks.

Mark your calendars for the 29th National Conference to be held in the windy city of Chicago, IL at the Hilton Chicago, February 15th-18th, 2018.

I am also excited to announce that this year’s Western Regional Conference will be held in Anaheim, CA from November 3-5th, 2017.

The host hotel for the conference will be the Doubletree by Hilton Anaheim-Orange County.  Reserve your room no later than October 16, 2017 to get the discounted rate of $119 per night.  Register for the NSMH Western Regional conference via the NSMH portal at nsmh.org/portal for $60 by October 20, 2017.  After October 20 the price will be $75. I can’t wait to see you all there!

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions for this upcoming school year!

With NSMH pride,

Emily Thompson
2017-18 Western Regional Chair

Greetings Southeast,

My name is Vernajh Pinder,  and I am a sophomore at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. I am honored to be your 2017-2018 Southeast Regional Chair. I know without a shadow of a doubt that we will have an amazing year working together as our region continues to establish itself as a trailblazer.

My Journey with NSMH begun last year and  after leaving my first regional conference I had this unexplainable yearning to do more in this organization. I came into NSMH as a shy timid college freshman and I have seen myself grow tremendously. That growth would not have been possible without this organization. This organization has become part of me and I hope you'll allow me to share that piece with you. NSMH will ensure your growth and development through its enriching programs and the opportunities it provides.

The Southeast Region will have a joint regional conference with the Southern Region.  The South/Southeast Regional conference will be held near Charlotte, NC at the Great Wolf Lodge.  Join us for an amazing weekend of development, networking with industry professionals, meeting NSMH members from other schools and fun.  Reserve your rooms no later than September 29, 2017 at the discounted rate of $139 per night by calling 866-751-9653 and using the reservation code 1710NSMH.  Register for the NSMH South/Southeast Regional conference via the NSMH portal at nsmh.org/portal for $60 before October 6, 2017.  After October 6 and on-site the price will be $75.

Are you ready to embark on this journey as we take charge of change? Today we are students, tomorrow we can be leaders! I look forward to meeting each of you at our conferences this year. I want this to be a year of personal and professional growth for each of you as we strive for excellence. Don't hesitate to reach out to me for anything that you need. I am confident that this will be a remarkable year!

Hello Midwest,

My name is Morgan LaBarrie, your 2017-2018 Midwest Regional Chair and an upcoming senior at Grand Valley State University. I am delighted to work with such amazing chapters in the Mighty Midwest!

I am coming up on my full year anniversary of being part of NSMH and it has truly been an inspiring 12 months. I attended my first Midwest Regional Conference at DePaul University in Chicago last October. It was a great experience to bond with others from my region and, after leaving that conference, I knew I wanted to be more involved in the growth of this organization.

We will be hosting our Midwest Summit in Chicago at the Hilton Chicago on October 14th.

This will be an amazing experience for everyone who attends. This summit is a great opportunity to network with industry partners, and grow as an individual in this diverse industry. For information about the Midwest Summit, including how to support and attend, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

I look forward to meeting all the newly inspired members and reconnecting with returning members.  Start planning now for the 29th National Conference, which will be held in Chicago, IL at the Hilton Chicago on Michigan Avenue, February 15th - February 18th, 2018.

I cannot wait to work with each chapter personally, so we can advance and achieve the goals we will set together.
