Welcome Northeast Region!
Greetings Northeast!
I would first like to thank everyone who attended the Northeast Regional Conference this past November in Providence, RI. I must say, it was a huge success and I have a lot of people to thank for that. Great thanks to our industry partners, advisory board members, chapter presidents, and most importantly thank you to all 118 members in attendance! The northeast should take great pride in knowing that we had the largest attendance, and were also lucky enough to have 5 national board members present. It makes me proud to know that the Northeast continues leaving an imprint in this great organization, no matter what the state of the economy is.
The conference was filled with many great activities and workshops; from the Hollywood themed game night opening reception, to the various number of interesting workshops, and finally , to the always favorite industry roundtables. This weekend allowed countless opportunities for students to further develop their leadership and professional skills. It is because of this conference that I am confident that the Northeast is fully prepared to attend our 20th National Conference in Greensboro, NC!
The National Conference in February is going to have so much for NSMH’s members and will be a great weekend filled with networking, learning, relationship building, interviewing, and fun. Throughout the weekend we will be celebrating “20 years of Developing Today’s Students into Tomorrow’s Leaders” through phenomenal workshops, motivating sessions, networking suites, career fair, and interviews. I am happy to say that I am sure our members will represent the Northeast proudly.
Lastly, I just want to remind you all to pre-register online through the NSMH portal by January 26th to receive the reduced rate and book your hotel room and transportation now! Sooner is better than later! I look forward to seeing you all again February 12-15 in Greensboro and can’t wait to have the best National Conference that National Society of Minorities in Hospitality has ever had!
In service,
- Carlos Casián
- 2008-2008 Northeast Regional Chair
